Submit a Letter to the Editor

Review the standards, confirm your identity, write your letter, and verify your email. Publication is never automatic.

Submission standards

Submission does not guarantee publication. Brandon reviews every letter before any decision.

Content expectations

  • One submission should make one clear argument or response
  • Preferred length: 500 words or fewer (hard maximum 650)
  • No profanity, obscenity, slurs, or dehumanizing language
  • No threats, doxxing, or private personal information about others
  • No unsupported accusations of criminal or seriously unethical conduct
  • No plagiarism, impersonation, commercial advertising, or campaign fundraising appeals
  • No mass-produced form letters or AI-generated spam
  • No promotional, fundraising, malware, or harassment links

TRP may

  • Edit for grammar, spelling, clarity, style, and length
  • Verify factual claims and request sources
  • Contact the author
  • Decline publication
  • Publish the letter in full or in edited form
  • Add an editor’s note when needed
  • Remove links
  • Decline anonymous or pseudonymous submissions except in rare circumstances approved by the editor

TRP will not

  • Guarantee publication
  • Publish private verification information
  • Pay for ordinary Letters to the Editor
  • Allow sponsorship or payment to determine publication
  • Knowingly publish threats, defamation, doxxing, plagiarism, or unlawful material

TRP may contact you to confirm authorship before publication. Email verification confirms control of the address you provided — it does not prove your full legal identity.
